After our first land travel to Davao City last January, now our next land travel is Misamis Occidental also part in the region of Northern Mindanao. This is our 2nd travel of the year and our 3rd province that we visited as the family traveler. This is the 6th province that our eldest visited and 4th province to our youngest. 12 years ago when our last visit in Ozamiz City together with my ex-girlfriend and now my wife.
We visited the Suman Capital Of Misamis Occidental in Clarin, the House of Suman. If you visit Misamis Occidental they will recommend you stopover in the house of suman. House of suman is located at the Municipality of Clarin Misamis Occidental. House of Suman pasalubong center is considered as one of the tourist destinations in Clarin. Suman is one of the Filipino delicacies and a favorite local snack that usually paired by coffee or a hot Choco (Sikwate).

It is located at the Municipality of Clarin Misamis Occidental near the highway at the border of Ozamiz City. It is easy to recognize because of its green building with a leaf-shaped roof. They boast of 13 flavors under the roof of Clarin’s House of Suman, a popular stop amongst locals and tourist not only for suman but some pasalubong treats as well, cool right? They come in classic sticky rice, mango, pineapple, ube, buko, peanut, langka & yes, the exotic durian.
Behind the Success of OTOP (One Town, One Product)
Clarin’s House of Suman started in 2009 when Clarin was still searching for their municipality’s one town, one product (OTOP). Suman was one of the products they dabbled in and their plain suman was noticed since it was of good quality, right moisture, and texture, and tasty even without sugar. But it was when they played around with different flavors when they captured the curious tastebuds of people. After a few tweaks and experiments, they were able to find the right mixes of flavors that appealed to many people.

Guide To Go Municipality of Clarin
- From Cagayan de Oro ride a bus route to Ozamiz, Dapitan or Zamboanga City.
- Its 3-4 hours land travel from Cagayan de Oro to Kolambugan, Lanao Del Norte. If you arrive Kolambugan, go to Mukas port to ride Barge going to Ozamiz City.
- Barge fair is a P40 peso for adults and P30 pesos for students and seniors. If you bring a private vehicle you will cost P360 pesos but the driver is already free. Travel time from Mukas Port Kolambugan to Ozamiz is around 30 minutes.
- When you arrive Ozamiz City port specifically at BayBay San Roque, just use the national road of Ozamiz City going to Municipal of Clarin. Around 20 minutes to 30 minutes of travel time depends on the traffic of the area or to your car speed limit.
