Ilocos Norte: WindMills of Bangui

Bangui Wind Mill Ilocos Norte

I already read a beautiful review about the windmill of Bangui which is located at Ilocos Norte. Visiting this windmill of Bangui is part of our travel in the Norte for 2 nights and 3 days. While reading our itinerary for our Ilocos tour we so excited because this is our first time to step Ilocos Sur and Ilocos Norte.

The Bangui Windmill of Ilocos Norte is one of the best tourist spots in the Philippines. This windmill of Bangui is also popular for a movie shoot not only by local movies but also by international movies. Visiting these tourist spots is such a dream come true. This is the first power generating windmill farm in Southeast East Asia and also known as Bangui Wind Farm and it is located at the municipality of Bangui.

Bangui is a 4th class municipality in the province of Ilocos Norte, Philippines. All of the windmills are 70 meters (230 feet) in height; they are the largest in South East Asia. There are 20 wind turbines on-shore facing the South China Sea.  Each wind turbine has the capacity to generate electricity up to a maximum of 1.65 Megawatts for a total of 24.75 Megawatts. With this windmill of Ilocos Norte, 40% of the power requirement of the province comes from this renewable energy. I think the mastermind of these gigantic windmills did not expect that the idea that was created will become one of the popular tourist attractions in the Philippines.
