Visiting Communal Ranch was one of those trips that reminded me how simple adventures can turn into unforgettable family memories. We went there with our family, our two energetic kids, and a few close friends—and from the moment we rented a pick-up truck and hit the road, the excitement never stopped.

Where Communal Ranch Is Located
Communal Ranch is situated in one of the highland paradises of Northern Mindanao, in Impasug-ong, Bukidnon, Philippines, high in the mountains where rolling hills stretch endlessly, and the air feels refreshingly cool. The place is famous for its expansive grasslands, grazing cattle, and serene countryside views that seem straight out of a movie.
How We Got There
We rented a pick-up truck, which I highly recommend, especially if you’re traveling with kids and friends. From Cagayan de Oro City, the drive took about 2.5 to 3 hours.
Our route:
-
Cagayan de Oro City > Manolo Fortich > Impasug-ong Proper > Communal Ranch
The road is mostly paved, but some sections going up are steep and winding. Having a pick-up made the drive smoother and more comfortable, especially when carrying food, bags, and excited children who couldn’t sit still.

Entrance Fees and Costs
At the time of our visit, the entrance fee was very affordable, typically ranging from ₱30 to ₱50 per person, with minimal parking fees for vehicles. Rates may change, so it’s best to bring extra cash just in case. There are no fancy ticket booths—everything is simple and community-managed.
What to Expect When You Arrive
The moment we arrived, the kids ran ahead, amazed by the open fields, cows, horses, and endless greenery. Communal Ranch isn’t a commercial tourist spot, and that’s exactly what makes it special.
You can expect:
-
Wide open grasslands are perfect for kids to run freely
-
Farm animals like cows and horses
-
Cool mountain breeze (especially in the morning)
-
Scenic views are ideal for family photos
-
A peaceful, relaxing atmosphere
There are no luxury amenities here, but the natural beauty more than makes up for it.
Tips on What to Bring
Based on our experience, here’s what I suggest bringing:
-
Light jacket or hoodie (it gets cold, especially early morning)
-
Sunscreen and hats for midday sun
-
Comfortable shoes for walking on grass and uneven ground
-
Food, snacks, and water (limited stores nearby)
-
Camera or phone fully charged—you’ll want lots of photos
-
Extra clothes for kids, especially if they love rolling on grass like ours did

Our Family Experience
Watching our kids laugh, chase each other across the fields, and point excitedly at the animals was the highlight of the trip. Our friends enjoyed the calm, the conversations felt deeper, and time seemed to slow down. There was no pressure—just happiness, fresh air, and togetherness.
The ride back in the pickup truck was filled with tired smiles, quiet kids, and stories we kept replaying. Communal Ranch gave us more than a destination—it gave us a moment to reconnect as a family and with nature.
Final Thoughts
If you’re looking for a budget-friendly, family-oriented, and peaceful travel experience, Communal Ranch is absolutely worth the trip. It’s not about luxury—it’s about joy, simplicity, and making memories with the people you love.
Sometimes, the best adventures are the ones where the kids run free, the adults slow down, and everyone comes home happier than when they left.
