Ilocos Norte: Sand Dunes of Paoay Laoag City

4×4 area

The first day of our Travel Sa Norte Bai was continued after we visited the famous and historical church of Laoag City which is the Paoay church, our next destination is the La Paz Sand Dunes or the also locally name Bantay Bimmaboy which is located on the same City. Sand Dunes are popular in their 4×4 activity and sand boarding for only 2,500 for half an hour. You can also try only the 4×4 activity which can accommodate 4-5 people for 1,500 while sand boarding is P50/slide. The 4×4 activity will tour you to the sand dunes and make you experience its unique ride. It will also give you a chance to go near the shore.  The area is also popularly known as the Desert of the North.

This place is also becoming a favorite location of movie film and even Hollywood movie shoot in Sand Dunes. “Ang Panday Movie Sequels” of our very own Fernando Poe Jr. also shoot here. You wonder where those epic fight scenes with his arch-nemesis Lizardo were shot but it is only in the Philippines and it’s in Sand Dunes.

Aside on the “Ang Panday Series”, Temptation Island was also in Sand Dunes, Himala, Mad Max of Mil Gibson and of course one of the scenes of the movie who won the Academy Award for Best-Director in 1990 “Born on the Fourth of July” and one of the casts in this movie is Tom Cruise.

We have a good and unique experience during our visits. You must try when you visit this place.
