Ilocos Norte: The Malacañang of the North
Travel sa Norte Bai is not yet over, after visiting Cape Bojeador Light House The Octagonal Tower which one of the beautiful famous and tourist destination in Northern Province of Ilocos Norte we went to the official residence of former President Ferdinand Marcos and his family whenever they are in Ilocos, the Malacañang of the North or Malacanang ti Amianan in Ilocano which is located in Suba, Paoay. President Ferdinand Marcos helped the shape the Philippines for what is today for 20 years in service as the President of the Republic of the Philippines (1965-1986)
This Malacanang ti Amianan is a birthday gift of the first lady during the 60th birthday of her husband Ferdinand Marcos. During the Marcos era the first family called as the “Royal Family” and with this era they build lots of house and Malacañang of the North is one of the popular houses among of all 29 houses that they have with 5-hectares property.
After the Marcos Regime ended, the Malacañang of the North was transformed into a museum. It was opened last January 1, 2011 to the public after restorations and renovations by the Governor and managed by the Department of Tourism.
With its sprawling expanse, this imposing mansion is intricately designed and resembled a 19th century Bahay na Bato. With a mix of Spanish and Ilocano architecture, the end product is, in a word, majestic. Its best feature is the view. The mansion is the perfect spot to see the beautiful Paoay Lake.
The Malacanang of the North is open Tuesdays to Sundays, 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM only with 30 pesos entrance for adult and 10 pesos for children.
